Seller’s Home Inspection Checklist

The following list will describe the amount of time a home inspector spends in a home. It will also save further disruption from return trips to inspect items that were not visible or accessible during the original inspection.

  • All the utilities should be turned on.
  • Replace any burned out light bulbs.
  • Remove items blocking access to the attic (usually in closet of hall ceiling).
  • Remove cars blocking ceiling attic accesses (usually in garage ceiling or upper wall).
  • Remove any items blocking access to the water meter.
  • Remove any items blocking the front of the main electrical panel.
  • Remove any items blocking access to the furnace.
  • Remove any items in the washing machine.
  • Gas pilots should all be lit.
  • Remove any items in the dishwasher.
  • Remove any items in the washing machine.
  • Make arrangements for your pets.
  • Provide keys or unlock sheds and out buildings.
